- An Easter Wedding - Spring has Sprung!
Our gorgeous bride and groom Helen & Nigel married on the bank holiday Monday 28th March 2016 at Bowood Country Golf Hotel in Somerset. We were put in touch with Helen & Nigel through the fantastic one and only wedding planner Matthew Oliver, due to them living abroad we couldn’t meet up to discuss ideas so all the planning happened through email, phone calls, skype and whatsapp! We initially met with Matthew Oliver at Bowood where we looked around the venue and discussed ideas, we discussed with Helen & Nigel about their look for the day, colours and style and created mood boards to visualise the look. On the morning of the wedding we met with our very gorgeous bride Helen for the first time and her fabulous bridesmaids who were all getting ready in the quaint little cottage on Bowood Estate. The girls all loved their beautiful blousy bouquets and we loved how excited they all were. We then went on to decorate The Kerry suit at Bowood. Firstly we created a stunning foliage arrangement to sit on a high ledge all around the top of the bar. We filled it with eucalyptus and parrot tulips it smelt amazing and looked really wow! We also filled the bar area with flowers in little silver pots on all the tables and a magnificent bed of flowers for the table plan to sit in. The wedding breakfast room looked spectacular; Helen & Nigel had a long top table with a beautiful blousy runner of flowers with lots of tea lights and candlesticks in front and behind to create a beautiful romantic glow. The 14 guest tables all had stunning tall blousy flower arrangements sitting on a beautiful curved glass vase decorated at the base with candlesticks and hydrangea. Not forgetting the 4 credenzas decorated with blousy arrangements and plenty of candles. It really did look wow especially as Matthew Oliver wedding planner had created a beautiful romantic look carefully choosing with Helen and Nigel a soft dusky pink table cloth, napkins, beautiful charger plates, cutlery and glasses – this wedding had style! We have lots of truly beautiful weddings coming up keep your eye out for the next blog! Love K&J xx
- 2016 Fit for a Princess....
Wow, what a start to the year team White Lilac has had! After stepping off the train at Waterloo last August and heading to Knightsbridge for a meeting with the fabulous Matthew Oliver Wedding planner, who knew what, was in store when walked through the doors at the Stunning Mandarin Oriental Hotel, also known as the “Royal” hotel (this should have given us an inkling as to who we were meeting). Over the next few weeks we planned a fabulous styled wedding with gorgeous detail and colours that were bold, yet soft and pretty with lots of beautiful foliage’s. We met again in London with a mood boards, colour palettes and ideas, picking up our lovely Matthew on the way to meet with the bride and groom to be, Loving the ideas and giving us the go ahead, we set to planning one of White Lilac’s biggest weddings to date! First and foremost, booking our fabulous team of girls and bigger vans! As arrangements starting filling the studio along with lots of giggles from the girls and overflowing tea cups, the phone call came to confirm that we were indeed in the middle of preparing floral decor for Royalty!! Meeting at 4am on the day of the wedding. We all knew it was going to be a long and very hard day however a very rewarding day. The beautiful entrance and grand staircase was the first to be transformed, filling the stairs with berried ivy, eucalyptus cinnaria, viburnham steel berry, asparagus fern, Avalanche roses, Cool water roses, burgundy Ranunculus, Bombastic spray roses, Lissimachia, ornathagalums, Black Baccarra roses, white dendrobium Orchids, burgundy Cymbidium Orchids, dark pink Astrantia and trails of sweet smelling Jasmine, with candle filled glass lanterns from the bottom to the top step and winding all the way round its impressive iron balcony. The entrance table had been filled with various glass vases, lanterns and mottled silver vases filled with candles, tea lights and around 150 rose heads nestled within. The spectacular Carlyle Room held the drinks reception, with its floor to ceiling windows with garlands of flowers holding the beautiful heavy curtains in place and Pedestals of overflowing foliages and flowers, tea lights and floor standing glass lanterns with pillar candles and the scent of jasmine... it really was a room decorated to sip Champagne! With such an amazing team of girls with us, The Ballroom with it grandeur and ornate gold finishing’s, overlooking Hyde park had already started to come together. Working with Matthew and his team, the running of the day just went so smoothly and every detail was checked twice. With 18 tables to dress, having a mixture of rounds and long ovals filled the room beautifully. The rounds having impressive tall glass vases with a towering floral arrangement with trailing Jasmine and dressed at the base with fruits, silver candlesticks, gold tea lights and mixed silver vases filled with flowers. The long oval tables looked spectacular with a runner of colour and foliages through the entire centre, dressed with the same ornate silver candlesticks, gold tea lights and fruits of black grapes and powdery figs. The room was filled with the sweet scent of all the beautiful Jasmine, the stage was finished with 12mtrs of foliage at the base, as was the amazing Chocolate Peggy Porschen cake. Next challenge lighting 500 candles nestled within all the prettiness! Feeling completely and utterly exhausted from a 26 hour day, we can’t thank our amazing, fabulous, talented team of White Lilac Ladies for their hard work, commitment and support. Until the next time... xx Wedding Planner - Matthew Oliver Photographer - Paula Broom
- A summer of Romantic Madness!
Wow what a summer we have had so far, filled with so many memorable weddings and events! We have been really bad at keeping our blog up to date although we have been posting lots of gorgeous flowers on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter so hopefully you have been enjoying our work. Our summer kickstarted with Gemma and Paul's stunning wedding in a pretty little village in Oxfordshire with a beautiful village church. We decorated it with tall trees, pedestals and flowers in the windows with plenty of candles, it was so romantic. We made two free standing arrangements outside the church with tall silver birches creating a beautiful entrance for all the guests. After the service Gemma and Paul left on horseback and headed to the stunning marquee set in Gemma's paddock with a view out onto the lake for the reception. The weather was glorious, we filled the marquee with beautiful flower arrangements and trees using two different designs - tall silver candelabra and clear fluted vases. The marquee looked fantastic. Vicky and Pete married in All Saints Church in Odiham, another stunning church with plenty of space which we decorated with huge pedestals and pew ends. Vicky had 6 bridesmaids who held different bouquets varying in a slight colour change with their pale blue bridesmaids dresses they looked gorgeous! The wedding reception was at The Barn at Bury Court, a gorgeous wedding venue in Bentley. We decorated the barn with silver candelabra, some with flowers up high and some with flowers low, it looked spectacular. A truly beautiful country wedding. Another beautiful wedding was Katie and Lewis' at Orchardleigh in Somerset in June. We worked with the amazing Matthew Oliver wedding planner whose magic touches and ideas made it a beauty. Katie and Lewis married in the tiny church on Orchardleigh, there was no lighting so we filled it with candlelight, and with the sun beaming through the stained glass windows it was perfect. We made a gorgeous flower arch outside the church - a stunning entrance. Matthew and his team set up a lemonade stand in the shade for refreshments with old crates and lemons, it looked so pretty. The wedding breakfast room was filled with flowers with tall and low table arrangements. The tables looked fantastic with ribbons around the napkins which Matthew had added to bring the colour onto the table which always looks beautiful. In July we worked with the Firebird event’s company on two fabulous evenings for the Gary Player Foundation who hosted a charity gala dinner and also celebrated their 50th anniversary. The first night was at Pennyhill Park, a fabulous outdoor setting with long trestle tables filled with herbs, white and green flowers, proteas and orange Leucospermums for a South African touch. We placed flowers and lanterns around the two ponds, it was a beautiful, relaxed warm evening in a country garden. The second night was the charity gala dinner at Wentworth, with a completely different glamorous look. We used rose gold candlesticks, mirrored glass and clear glass with red roses, red peonies and black calla lilies. It really looked wow especially on the black table cloths. Also in July Laura and Tom married in a perfect outdoor ceremony at Froyle Park, with fabulous bright coloured flowers on a hot summer’s day, it was a show stopper. The pergola dome was dressed with garlands of flowers, pedestals and pew ends and the ballroom filled with stunning arrangements. Froyle Park ballroom is a beautiful space and with any colour it always looks beautiful. We wish we could tell you about every wedding as they have all been beautiful and we have enjoyed every one. We promise not to leave it so long next time... K & J xx
- Welcome to White Lilac
Welcome to our exciting new website, we hope you love it as much as we do and gain some inspiration from just a few images from the beautiful weddings and events that we have worked on and that you enjoy keeping up to date with our "in the news" page!!
We have had the most fantastic summer and have been crazily busy all through it. Our amazing team have worked tirelessly with us throughout and are worth their weight in gold flowers, if you pardon the pun! The weddings have been non-stop and the flowers have just been breathtaking, we love working with each and every bride and groom on their wedding flower schemes, however it's always bitter sweet as when the flowers are all in place looking stunning and waiting for the newly weds to arrive, we know it’s the end of the flower planning with us and the start of something fabulous for them. Over the summer we have had the opportunity to visit and decorate some of the South's most spectacular venues, from gorgeous Goodwood House to the elegant Elvetham Hotel. Enjoy all the gorgeousness below!
At the beginning of the summer we heard the exciting news that White Lilac has now become the new supplier to Northbrook Park and its very new stunning sister venue, Froyle Park Country Estate. It is truly beautiful, with so much history behind its newly refurbished interiors.
We were invited to dress the Grand Ballroom for Froyle’s new brochure and were given the brief "Soft and Romantic". With 12 tables to dress we decided to give the tables three different looks: our silver candelabra with glass lanterns, 4 dressed with a blowsy ball, 4 dressed with a spiral of soft foliages and flowers, and the last 4 with a striking domed arrangement framed with tapered candles in silver holders. We were thrilled with the results and they look amazing in the brochure.
Who knew the next adventure was just around the corner? As we worked on a wedding in the studio we received a call from Natalie, the fabulous wedding dress designer for Madeline Isaac-James. We were blown away to be asked to dress the historic Trinity House venue overlooking Tower Bridge, where Natalie had decided to launch her new wedding dress collection which were just so beautiful! We spent the day at the venue with the MIJ team along with photographer Stuart Weston. He knew the look he wanted to achieve and was so in control of the whole shoot. It was fab to be able to "tweek" the flowers throughout the day too! The look was opulent and dark with mystical cherubs (one being, Natalie's daughter); the flowers had a Victorian coloured theme with soft blowsy roses and striking tall blue delphiniums, however the dresses were girlie, soft and just the most superb fabrics. Well done Natalie.
To all our past Brides and Grooms, congratulations to you and we wish you a fabulous future together.
Look out for new details regarding Wedding Fayres that White Lilac will be attending, Christmas Workshops, a Christmas buying open evening at the Studio and of course lots more beautiful weddings and events.
